MAUI, HAWAII
"Mahalo, Thank you"
What if they're not translating for our sake, but are actually twice as thankful as we are in the mainland?
-in a grateful world
BARCELONA, SPAIN
I wish so much to return her time and willingness to guide me throughout Barcelona.
She took me around Las Ramblas, Plaza de Catalunya, her neighborhood and more. But she talks about wanting to come to America and shines in delight at the thought of freedom after I told her I knew how to drive.
MADRID, SPAIN
It's more of a city feel in comparison to the palm trees and wide open streets of Barcelona.
7 story clubs existed where it was dark enough to mask the time of day but light enough to keep the night going on forever.
We went to El Prado to see morbid paintings of the civil war, daydreamt at the palace and strolled down streets reminiscent of New York.
TERRAGONA, SPAIN
How quaint the town
Built above Roman Royalty
The future lives on
as shards of the past peak through
Churches stand mighty
and the town's spirits are
High, where once
Emperors sat yards away from the circus
Walked through the tunnels
where warriors braved
Sat at the stadium
and imagined the industry entertain
PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN
Unfortunately, it had rained that first day. We barely got the chance to see the town before it started pouring. We managed to make the most of our time by grabbing some cheap beer, even cheaper popcorn, an umbrella and some blankets to sit under the awning and watch the electricity break the sky.
GRANADA, SPAIN
We walked up a steep hill and eventually found our way to the Alhambra.
The gardens were structured to a T, a sight so beautiful it made me feel like Alice. Walls so carefully carved into intricate lines and curves, a distinct pattern of Arabian influence and architecture so unique you could breathe in the history and authenticity that Granada has preserved of Spain.
GIRONA, SPAIN
Days spent cafe hopping:
what we believe to be
a one of a kind European experience.
SEVILLA, SPAIN
I have become a morning person, as my short time here has made me realize that there are fleeting moments of chances to learn, to grow, to feel a sense of discovery. And I want to take advantage of those moments.
MORROCCO, AFRICA
Blue City
of little appearance
of women,
on the streets
and on film
But men line up
with cameras
with questions
wanting a still shot
of these women
Newcomers say yes
and the knowing
barter for a better bargain
DUBLIN, IRELAND
Traveling has taught me to take advantage of every moment because you don't really know the next time you'll get another chance again.
Another chance to rekindle a friendship.
Another chance to see a world wonder.
Another chance to pour a perfect pint of Guinness.
PORTO, PORTUGAL
We were asked: "What is your learning goal for when you go abroad?" Well for starters, I want to learn things I have yet to know about myself and create a space for improvement. To do this, I think I must first learn the rhythm of the people that don't typically surround me and drown myself in their definitions of "living".
